OUR RESTAURANT

A new Indian & Nepalese restaurant in Haarlem

Samsara is an Indian and Nepalese restaurant in Haarlem. Our chefs prepare traditional dishes from both countries using fresh ingredients and whole spices that they blend themselves—ranging from tandoori specialties and slow-cooked curries to hand-folded Nepalese momos.

In Sanskrit, *samsara* refers to the endless cycle of life. To us, it represents the rhythm of a wonderful evening: a warm welcome, the aroma of spices, dishes shared together at the table, and the desire to return. The ancient art of blending herbs and spices is the secret behind our cuisine, and through warm, attentive service, we bring these flavors to your table.

THE SAMSARA EXPERIENCE

This is how your dinner comes together

Every dish goes through the same four steps, and no step is rushed.

  1. The spice box

In our kitchen, whole spices are roasted and ground, then carefully blended for each individual recipe. This gives every sauce its own unique character.

  2. The fire

Marinated meat, paneer, and fresh dough go into the tandoor—the clay oven that gives naan its crispy crust and tikka its smoky flavor.

  3. Folding

Our momos are filled and folded by hand, just as they are made in homes throughout Nepal. They are then steamed or pan-fried to order.

  4. The Table

Dishes are served for sharing, allowing you plenty of time to enjoy them. Let us know what you like, and our team will be happy to guide you through the menu.

"Spices are just like people. On their own, they are interesting; together, they tell a story.."
